Football FAQ

Q-When are sign-ups? 
A-Sign-ups begin on Saturday, May 9th. You can register at Lyndon Recreation from 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Saturday 5/9. You may also sign up online starting May 1st or at anytime in the parks office, during normal office hours.
Q-How much does it cost? 
A-The cost is $125.  After May 16th, a $10 late fee bill be added
Q-What age groups do you offer?

  • Mitey-Mite Division (Ages 5-7): (birth date as of 7/31).
  • Pee Wee (Ages 8-9): (birth date as of 7/31).
  • Junior (Ages 10-11): (birth date as of 7/31).
  • Varsity (Ages 12-13): (birth date as of 7/31). 

Q-Do you offer any flag football? 
A-No, we offer tackle football at all ages.
Q-Do we need to purchase any equipment? 
A-Lyndon provides the game jersey and game pants with pads. The game pants, helmet, and shoulder pads are also provided, but MUST be returned at the end of the season. Players keep their game jersey, but they cannot be worn during practice. You will need to purchase cleats, cup, practice pants and a practice jersey. Lyndon does have some practice jerseys and pants that can be purchased at a discounted rate.

Q-When do practices begin? 
A-Practices will begin in mid June. At first, practice will be five nights a week from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. for ages 8-13 and less for ages 5-7 . Once school begins, the practice schedule will decrease to three nights per week.
Q-What are practices like? 
A-The first two week of practice is non-contact conditioning only. Players need to wear a t-shirt, athletic shorts, and cleats. After that, the rest of the practices will be in full gear. It is the family's responsibility to bring all gear to full contact practices, players will not be allowed to borrow gear from the office.
Q-Is there anything else to bring to practice? 
A-Each player should bring a one-gallon jug of water to practice. Jugs should be personalized with the player's name.
Q-How long is the season? 
A-The pre-season jamboree will be held August 3-4 with the first league games a week after that. Each team will play 9 regular season games. The playoffs will begin shortly after the end of the regular season, around October 26/27th. All games are regularly scheduled for Saturdays. Make-up games could be held on a Sunday. 
Other important information:

  •  It is recommended that parents monitor their Childs' diet from the time of sign ups until the season is over. Junk foods, caffeine, soft drinks, and Energy Boost drinks are not conducive to good performance and will cause an adverse reaction during the grueling heat that is associated with the football season.
  • Prescription drugs (like Adderall) may be harmful to athletic competitions so consult with family doctors prior to signing to play football.
  • Lyndon complies with the KHSAA rules and guidelines pertaining to heat and weather safety conditions.
  • Lyndon has an onsite Hygrometer to determine heat index volumes for proactive safety.
